FIZE Dialogues

Ideas. Experiences. Perspectives

We bring together people, institutions, and ideas to create sustainable solutions for global challenges.

FIZE Dialogues

Ideas. Experiences. Perspectives

Cooperation begins with conversation. New ideas emerge where people share different experiences, perspectives, and expertise. This is exactly the space we aim to create through FIZE Dialogues.

FIZE Dialogues is our platform for exchange, knowledge transfer, and shared reflection. We seek to bring together people from education, academia, business, public administration, politics, and civil society – regionally, nationally, and internationally.

At the same time, our focus is not limited to major global issues. Many challenges begin close to home. For this reason, FIZE Dialogues also serves as our regional platform for engagement. We aim to bring current developments, societal questions, and international perspectives into the region while placing local experiences within a broader context.

Planned activities include public lectures, discussion formats, expert dialogues, and thematic events related to FIZE’s areas of work. In addition, we intend to establish a regular Breakfast Club in the coming months. In an informal setting, participants will be invited to discuss current topics from society, education, public administration, business, academia, and international cooperation – openly, across disciplines, and on equal footing.

On this page, you will find announcements of upcoming events, reports from our projects, and insights and perspectives from our professional discussions.

We look forward to engaging with people who are willing to look beyond their own perspective and help shape the future together.

Dialogues & Perspectives

Dialogues & Perspectives Begins with a Look at Japan

With its new event series “Dialogues & Perspectives”, the Forum for International Future and Development Partnerships (FIZE) aims to bring together people, ideas, and experiences from different countries and cultures. The series focuses on topics related to international cooperation, societal development, education, culture, and mutual understanding.

The opening event will be a lecture and discussion evening on the topic:

Understanding Japan – Culture, Communication, and Societal Perspectives

The event builds on the seminar “Japan: Cultural Understanding and Communication”, which Wolf Hannes Kalden is currently teaching at Justus Liebig University Giessen.

Japan fascinates many people through its technological innovation, economic strength, and unique cultural traditions. At the same time, intercultural encounters often give rise to misunderstandings, as communication styles, social expectations, and patterns of interaction can differ significantly from those commonly found in Europe.

The purpose of this event is therefore not to present tourist stereotypes, but rather to provide practical insights into Japanese ways of thinking, communicating, and interacting. Topics will include:

  • Communication between the lines

  • Community and responsibility in Japanese society

  • Differences between German and Japanese expectations in professional environments

  • Experiences from studying, working, and managing projects in Japan

  • Perspectives for international cooperation

The event is intended for students, professionals, volunteers, and anyone interested in international perspectives and intercultural exchange. The exact date will be announced in autumn 2026. Scheduling is currently being coordinated due to ongoing meetings and project activities related to the MICT UA initiative in Ukraine.

Further information will be published soon
